The Tastes of Art Prize is a valuable way to gain experience showing work publicly, receive feedback and build confidence in presenting work in a gallery setting.

Arts Rutherglen is thrilled to announce the appointment of our new President, Sue Griffiths!
After being deeply impressed by her first experience with the Tastes of Art Prize, Sue is excited to take on a more active leadership role. She would love to see this major event grow even larger, especially as we prepare to celebrate our milestone 10th year presenting the show in 2027.
Sue and her husband, Greg, moved from Melbourne to Rutherglen in June 2020. Once the Covid lockdowns lifted, they were determined to dive headfirst into the local community. While Greg joined Rotary, Sue’s journey with Arts Rutherglen began a few years ago after a chance meeting with AR member Robyn Sullivan at a Rotary Club BBQ.
Having travelled extensively throughout Europe over the years, with local galleries and museums always being a major drawcard – joining Arts Rutherglen felt like the perfect fit for Sue.

We are thrilled to share that Tommy McRae (Yakaduna), a Wiradjuri Elder from Lake Moodemere, has been inducted into the Victorian History Hall of Fame. The Royal Historical Society of Victoria announced the induction of Tommy McRae, also known as Yakaduna, into the Victorian History Hall of Fame.
Though he could neither read nor write, his artwork serves as a vital historical record.
As a First Nations storyteller from Lake Moodemere, Tommy created vivid, invaluable artworks that portrayed his Country, the native animals, the landscape, his people, and his times with remarkable depth.
His drawings brilliantly captured the social relationships of his era, illustrating the unique challenges Indigenous and non-Indigenous people faced when relating to one another.

It is my pleasure to present the President’s Report for Arts Rutherglen for the 2025–2026 year. This has been another active and productive year for the Association, made possible by the work of our committee, members, volunteers, artists, sponsors, donors and community supporters.
Arts Rutherglen exists because people continue to value creativity, cultural participation and the contribution the arts make to regional life. This year we have maintained our community presence through visual art, literature, music, film, community events and public art initiatives. The program has been diverse, but the underlying purpose has remained consistent: to support artists, bring people together and strengthen the cultural life of Rutherglen and the wider district.
