Opening of the “First Nations Canoe and Pronged Spear”

SAVE THE DATE – Saturday, 31st May, 2025

Arts Rutherglen is proud to welcome Family & community to celebrate the ‘opening’ of the “First Nations Canoe and Pronged Spear”: Lorraine Connelly-Northey’s tribute to Yackaduna (Tommy McRae) – his art and his life.

Lorraine Connelly-Northey’s work, “A First Nations Canoe and Pronged Fishing Spear” is her personal homage to Tommy McRae (Yackaduna).

It completes the Arts Rutherglen tribute to Yackaduna – as a local First Nations artist and Elder.

We are immensely proud of this installation, the project and our community – all the local businesses and friends who contributed to expressing Rob & Ro Porter’s vision.

Arts Rutherglen invites you to celebrate with us in a simple ’lakeside’ event to honour Yackaduna and his Family, acknowledge Lorraine Connelly-Northey and donors, and recognise the broad cross-section of inspirational community support.

All are welcome to join the Morgan Family, the artist, donors & friends for afternoon tea at the Rotary Deck Lake King, Rutherglen, 2 pm – 4.30 pm.
