Following hot on the heels of the very successful Busking Festival Weekend in May 2022, aRTS Rutherglen has been staging live music events at various venues around Rutherglen (and the wider area).
These shows have featured original songwriters from both Australia and overseas who are touring through regional Victoria. This music events program is supported by Indigo FM and Destination Rutherglen.
The emphasis is on showcasing the vast, diverse talent of these independent artists as they share their stories – within their lyrics and also in their chat between songs.
We also like to encourage young singer-songwriters and performers from the area by way of being the opening act. To date we are delighted to have given opportunities to Lilly Ciufici (Wahgunyah), Jack Gregory (Yackandandah) and Molly Jane (Chiltern).
Organising future Live Music Events
We think it’s now time to formalise a Music Events Sub-Committee as we seek to build a strong music program for 2024 and beyond. And we’re inviting you to join this Sub-Committee and help plan future live music events including artist selection, venue selection, seeking grants, options for catering and bar, poster design, ticketing etc. You will be expected to be on hand to assist with venue set-up and roles such as MC, door admissions, promotion etc, We envisage around 5 meetings per year would be held. If this is something you’d be interested in please complete our Expression Of Interest – which closes 29 October 2023
