Welcome Beth Rankin, as the new President of Arts Rutherglen

Beth is no stranger to the wonderful life offered in Rutherglen and after 40 years of annual holidays in the area, decided to make a permanent move here in 2017. She has a background in nursing, creative arts education and public health and teaches in the National School of Education at the Australian Catholic University.

Beth’s research interests are in the arts and health. Researching arts as social justice, she has been awarded grants to work with disadvantaged, disengaged and, refugee middle years youth. Her photography programs, and inclusive musical theatre programs, have provided opportunities for participation and re-engagement with learning.

Beth’s involvement in the Rutherglen community has included being on the judging panel for the Rutherglen Busking competition in 2022/23 and the Rutherglen High School Writing competition in 2022.

She is an active member of Rutherglen Landcare and Wangaratta Concert Band and is excited to be part of Arts Rutherglen – a committed and active community group.
